The Nevada Wolfpack starts a senior quarterback and Boston College a freshman under center.

In Nevada’s bowl game last season a major run threat was missing in Vai Taua who missed the game with an injury.

Taua is an important weapon for senior quarterback Colin Kaepernick because Taua’s running ability aids in the Wolfpacks piston offense.

Kaepernick is much more effective running the football with the threat of a running back between the tackles gaining nearly 6 yards per carry. The play fakes to Taua freezes defenders opening up big plays with the pass.

This is the best defense Nevada has had under coach Chris Ault. You have to really respect the fact that the Wolfpack did not let down the following week after their huge 34-31 upset win against Boise St.

Nevada’s defense had to travel way out to Louisiana Tech the following week and their defense allowed only 17 points to the Bulldogs while the offense put up 35 points.

The game is being played in nearby San Francisco so there will be Wolfpack fans making the drive over from Reno Nevada.

Boston College’s offense has struggled for much of the season as the club put up only 18 points per game behind their freshman quarterback.

The Eagles are in a bowl game off the strength of defeating very weak teams on their schedule this season.

In step up games Boston College lost by double digits against Virginia Tech, Notre Dame and North Carolina St.

Against a dynamic North Carolina St offense also sporting a senior quarterback the Eagles defense gave up 44 points.

The Panthers are very weak in their secondary and have been beaten by big plays this season.
